In Their Own Words…
Owners translate what their pets have to say about Kate Luse and Whiskers and Wags Pet Sitting
Evie (translated by Kellie C.)
“My name is Evie and I am blind. My mom has to travel for work and my veterinarian referred Kate to us. I don’t trust strangers much so I pretended to be very ferocious and mean and would hide under the bed hoping Kate would go away! But to my surprise Kate didn’t go away and as a matter of fact she kept coming back! Her kind mannerism and patience won me over. Now, I will let Kate take me outside and sometimes I even sit on her lap because she pets me a lot! My sister Molly loves everyone, so it was no surprise that Molly loved Kate right from the beginning. My mom’s schedule can be unpredictable so it is nice to know that I have one person that I trust that will come over and visit me whenever my mom cannot be around!”
Mikey (translated by Melissa T.)
“My name is Mikey. My mom adopted me from a rescue when I was 6 years old. I’m sweet, but also very shy around new people. I am my mom’s first dog, so she worries about me a lot. When Kate first came to my house, mom and I were both nervous about having someone we didn’t know take care of me. But as soon as Kate walked through the door, I knew we had nothing to worry about. I went right over to greet her, climbed up on her knee and let her pet me like we were old friends. Kate is so kind and gentle, which is perfect for a shy guy like me. She also happily and patiently plays with me even though I don’t really know how fetch works. We no longer have to stress when mom is away because I love when Kate comes to visit!”
Tilly, Smokey, and Maloo (translated by Roser H.)
My name is Tilly, and I live with two other cats and two humans who travel often. And when they do, Kate from Whiskers and Wags Pet Sitting comes to our house and takes care of us. Let me tell you, she’s the best. I should know, because before moving to my current abode I was rescued by her and placed in her home with several foster cats and a dog. It was she who found me this permanent address where I’m very happy because I rule supreme. She makes sure to feed me my special diet food and keep my water and litter box clean, as well as give me the moderate amount of affection that I tolerate from humans.
I’m Smokey (the handsome long-haired, gray one). I’m an affectionate, furry guy who knows that whoever comes in through the door has only one purpose, which is to enjoy my company. So, Kate from Whiskers and Wags, in addition to sticking to my kidney diet and keeping my bowls very clean to avoid urine infections, rubs my cheeks and my whiskers and whispers sweet nothings into my avid ears. I really like her and look forward to her visits.
They call me Maloo (sitting with my pal Smokey), and I was the last to move into this funny place they call home with these funny monsters they call people. I was feral and I’m still suspicious of any monsters except the two I’ve gotten used to, but I’ve allowed Kate to step into the circle of my confidence. She’s patient and doesn’t scare me with loud noises. And I’m the only one who isn’t on a diet, so she feeds me the food I want and that those two old fogies can’t have.
Ellie and Benny (translated by Amy G.)
I’m Ellie, and despite my ferocious appearance, I’m a little timid. But Kate always makes me feel safe and loved. I get lots of attention, treats, and walks: being with her is just like being with my own humans (but don’t tell them I said that).
And I’m Benny, Ellie’s feline brother. I don’t like having my routines disrupted, so Kate makes sure everything stays just how I like it. She remembers where I like to be scratched (and where I don’t), and can always find me when I’m hiding. Alas, she also knows just how much to feed me, and won’t overdo it. In fact, seeing Kate is like seeing a member of my own family—my people adopted me when I was a foster cat in Kate’s own home!
Sebastian (translated by Griselda Z.)
I’m Seba, short for Sebastian, and after my human mom, who adopted me a year ago, Kate is my next favorite person. Life was difficult and scary before being adopted (my former people packed up and moved and left me behind in an apartment), and Kate knows that I need lots of love and gentle handling. She’s so kind and gentle, in fact, that I’ll even let her clean my ears and clip my nails.
Luci (translated by Dan P.)
Hi my name’s Lucietta, but humans call me Luci, and dogs, well, they just sniff my butt. Dogs know people who love dogs (we just do, don’t ask), and Kate LOVES dogs. I know. I see her every day walking past my house with somebody’s dog. I’ll bark at her, and she waves back — I think it’s become a tradition for me, to look for Kate passing by my house once or twice a day. I’ve also had the pleasure of going to the dog park with her, walking her there, and we had SUCH A BLAST!!!! Running! Chasing! Chasing! Running! The only thing ruining it were the other dogs. But she was always there, always looking out for me, and because she’s so nice, I’m always ready, whenever I see her up close to give her lots of slobbery kisses. I’m good at slobbery kisses.
